Dr. Antonios Varelas, Ph.D. is a Professor of Psychology in the Behavioral and Social Sciences Department at Hostos Community College, The City University of New York. He is a Behavior Analyst and an active researcher with a record of scholarship in the use of concept formation in the undergraduate classroom, the impact of Supplemental Instruction, and most recently, on the effect of combined mentorship on academic, career and personal development of community college students. Much of his work is supported by his service as Co-PI on three National Science Foundation funded projects, including NSF HIS Hub, “Intersectionality as Inquiry and Praxis: Race-Gender-Class-Ethnicity for Student Success in STEM,” NSF DUE S-STEM Award, “The Hostos Engineering Academic Talent Scholarship Program,” and NSF DUE S-STEM Award, “Strengthening Physics Achievement via Research and Collaboration (SPARC).”
